Honorable Magistrate Walter Jonathan Forker, 72, of La Porte, IN, passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at Settlers Place.
Walter was born on August 18, 1952, in Asbury Park, NJ, to Walter and Janet (Luckenbaugh) Forker.
On August 21, 2016, in Las Vegas, NV, he married Darlene (Dickey) Pavey who survives. Also surviving are his 2 children, Nick Forker of Niles, MI and C.J. (Shelley) Forker of Sarasota, FL; 2 grandchildren, Liam Jonathan and Svea Lynn Forker of Sarasota, FL; step-daughter, Madison Pavey of Ashville, NC; 4 brothers, Mark (Chris) Forker of Valparaiso, Dr. Thomas (Eileen) Forker of Williamsburg, PA, Joel Forker of Knoxville, TN, and Neil (Ana) Forker of Payson, AZ; 3 sisters-in-law, Debbie (Adrian) Mazar of IL, Donna (David) Homann of La Porte, and Deidre Notto of VA; brother-in-law, Ron Caddo of La Porte; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister-in-law, Daun Caddo; and step-daughter, Tracy Richardson.
After 42 years, Walter retired from serving the community as a Magistrate. He proudly served 30 of those years as an Attorney.
Walter enjoyed traveling and corvettes. He will be fondly remembered as a Grill Master. Most importantly, Walter loved spending time with family and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 7 p.m. on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Pastor Dennis Meyer officiating.
A time of visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home. Cremation will take place following the service.
Memorial donations may be made to the Bethany Church Foundation, 102 G. Street, La Porte, IN 46350 or Dunes Hospice Foundation, Inc., 4711 Evans Ave., Valparaiso, IN 46383.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Dunes Hospice for their exceptional care. A special thank you to Patricia, Betty, and Tammy for all their wonderful care over the last 9 months.
