Walter "Drew" Goins

Walter “Drew” Goins, 71, of Smiths Station, AL died peacefully at his home on Sunday, December 07, 2025, under the care of Columbus Hospice with his family by his side.

Graveside Services will be held at Noon (EST) on Thursday, December 11, 2025, in Lakeview Memory Gardens according to Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL with Pastor Isaac Gilbert officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 11:45 AM on Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Goins was born January 12, 1954, in Phenix City, AL son of the late William L. Goins and Dorothy “Dot” Saggus Goins. He had retired from Dudley Lumber as a sales associate after several years. Mr. Drew loved his family, his Harley, and his 1998 F150. From his alphabetized spice rack, to his perfectly folded fitted sheet and manicured yard, Mr. Drew embodied an unmatched attention to detail.

He will be forever missed in our daily lives, but he is still cherished in our hearts.

Mr. Goins was preceded in death by his parents, William and Dorothy Goins; a brother, David “Mark” Goins and a sister, Beverly Thurmond.

Survivors include his wife, Rebecca “Becky” Milner Goins, Smiths Station, AL; daughter, Drew Alyse Goins (Joshua Roberts “J.R.”), Smiths Station, AL; sister, Becky Benton; brother, Mike Goins; his two favorite dogs, Max and Harley; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
