Aubrey Randall Lake, 82, of Smiths Station, AL passed away Sunday, November 30, 2025 at the Landings in Columbus, GA.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 am EST Saturday, December 6, 2025 at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City, AL with Rev. Rob Strickland officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 am, one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home.
Mr. Lake was born on July 27, 1943, in Columbus, Ga, son of the late Aubrey Lake and Alvie Strong Lake. After high school, he obtained his bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering from Auburn University and worked as a business owner. He was owner of the Western Auto in Smiths Station, AL, and later was co-owner of Associates Insurance Agency in Columbus, GA with his business partner of many years Hayden Wadkins. Mr. Lake was a former member of the Moose Lodge, and began the Chicken & Rice Ministry to feed the homeless through the Highland Community Church. He was athletic as a young man and played football at Troy University. Mr. Lake transferred to Auburn where he competed on the wrestling team. He remained a loyal Auburn fan down through the years. Above all, Mr. Lake loved and cherished his family. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
Other than his parents, Mr. Lake was preceded in death by a son, Calvin Lake; his aunt and uncle, who were like parents to him, Aunt Nonie and Uncle Boots.
He is survived by his daughters, Jenny Fritz (Mark) and Ambre Lake (Jerry); a son, Brandon Lake; grandchildren, Holley Spikes, Aubrey Lake, Kaylee Lake, Jayden Lake, Charleigh Lake, Coleman Lake, and Paxton Ward; a first cousin, who was more like a brother, Dwight Lake (Teresa); as well as numerous extended family members and friends, including an ex-wife and close friend, Denise Edminsten.
