Walter Curtis Herreth was born March 12, 1929 in Blessing, Texas. He completed his earthly journey surrounded by loved ones on August 5, 2016.

Walter grew up in the small town of Blessing, Texas, He had 3 brothers, and 3 sisters. He served in the Army in the Sixth Armored Division Company C, 5th Heavy Tank Battalion during the Korean War. After serving his country he was employed by Southern Pacific Railroad. In 1955 He met and married the love of his life Jessie Greenhaw. Walter and Jessie resided in Beaumont, Texas and then moved to Houston. They had two children Martha Ann and Michael Curtis.

Walter retired from Southern Pacific in 1982. They continued to live in Houston/Cypress area throughout his retirement and until he passed.

Walter loved to cook, barbeque that is, they had 2 Bar-B-Que restaurants in the Heights. Jessie always said he was like a bull in a china cabinet when it came to cooking......the kitchen was a mess once he was done. Walter and Jessie loved to travel and they drove all over the United States for their trips and they would always route their way to Vegas as their last stop before coming home. He loved his kids, loved being with them and providing for them. He loved going to visit with his brothers and sisters and family. Walter was a loving husband, father and PawPaw.

Walter is preceded in passing by his loving wife of 50 years Jessie Herreth, parents Albert and Elizabeth Herreth, brothers Lawrence Herreth and Carl Herreth, Sr. Sisters, Viola Rickaway and Lois Smith.

Survived by his brother, A.C. Herreth and his sister Joy Rickaway , daughter Martha Cook and husband Dave, Michael Herreth and wife Cindy, grandchildren Keith Cook and wife Jennifer, Michael Cook, Kristy Rose and husband Shane.

Four Great Grandchildren, Madison and Evan Cook, Josh and Zachary Rose and numerous family and friends.

Funeral Service will be conducted on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Cypress United Methodist Church (13403 Cypress North Houston Rd., Cypress, Texas 77429. Interment will follow at Forest Park Westheimer.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Claire Brothers Funeral Home (7901 Hillcroft Street, Houston, Texas 77081).
