Walter A. Imbert, 45, of Livingston, passed away on Saturday, April 8, 2023.
Born in Newark, Walter lived with his family in Livingston for the past 14 years.
Walter was a dedicated father and husband to his wife Colleen and his daughter Giuliana. What he loved most was spending time with them and their family dog, Chulo. He also enjoyed traveling, watching soccer, smoking a good cigar and spending time with extended family and friends.
He served with his fellow brothers and sisters in the Orange Police Department since August 2003. Walter was a Detective Lieutenant with the Internal Affairs Division-Professional Standards for many years. He was a Range Instructor, a member of the Special Response Team Sniper/Observer Team, the Police Benevolent Association Local 89, Superior Officers Association, and the National Law Enforcement Associates Inc. in New York, NY.
In 2005 Walter received the Essex County Valor Award for his outstanding actions in the line of duty and additionally was honored by the city of Orange.
Prior to his career in law enforcement, he proudly served the United States Army as a combat medic stationed in Fort Hood, Texas and Kuwait.
He is survived by his beloved wife Colleen (nee Quinn) and beloved daughter, Giuliana, by his parents, Luis and Teresita Imbert and is predeceased by his brother, Javier. He is also survived by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Phyllis and Mark Diener and a host of many relatives and friends.
Relatives and friends may visit with the family at Paul Ippolito Berkeley Memorial, 646 Springfield Ave., Berkeley Heights, N.J., on Sunday, April 16, 2023 from 2 to 6 p.m. A Catholic Mass will be held at Our Lady of Peace Church, 111 South St, New Providence, NJ 07974 on Monday, April 17, 2023 at 10:30 a.m.
