Walter Johnson September 6, 1936 – November 20, 2025

Walter Johnson, age 89, of Paintsville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2025, at Riverview Health Care Center in Prestonsburg, Kentucky. Born September 6, 1936, in Ashland, Kentucky, he was the son of Harvey and Virgie Manning Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters, and his beloved wife, JoAnn Johnson. He is survived by two sons, Jeffery E. Johnson (Kim) of Lexington, KY, and Gerald R. Johnson (Jon Rexroat) of Prospect, KY; one grandson, Jacob Johnson (Kate Crawford) of Lexington, KY; as well as seven nieces and two nephews.

Walter was a proud U.S. Army veteran, a dedicated member of the Paintsville Masonic Lodge No. 381, the El Hasa Shrine Temple, and Mayo Memorial United Methodist Church. He was also a retired heavy equipment sales representative. His devotion to family, faith, community, and service will be remembered by all who knew him.

Visitation will be held at Jones-Preston Funeral Chapel beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, followed by the Memorial Service at 12:00 Noon in the chapel. Masonic Services will be conducted by the Paintsville Lodge No. 381 F & AM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, honoring Walter's lifelong commitment to service and community.
