Walter Jordan Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Aria Cremation Service and Funeral Home - Preston Road from Jan. 20 to Jan. 21, 2026.
Walter Edgar (Ed) Jordan

Ed grew up in Brentwood, MO where his parents were influential community leaders. In High School and College, he excelled in athletics. He was a star quarterback and played baseball where he later joined a semi-pro team.

He was a true patriot and served in the Marine Corps as Combat Radio Operator 6/27/1956 – 4/15/1958; then served in the Reserve for 4 years and was honorably discharged on 6/26/1962.

After learning the strict discipline in the Marine Corps, he attended Central Methodist University, Fayette, MO and transferred to Mizzou University, his Junior Year. Ed earned a bachelor's degree in business administration.

Ed's professional career included 30 years in the Hospitality Industry. He began at Tan-Tar-A Resort at Lake of the Ozarks. From there, he was hired as "pre-opening expert" and opened the Crown Center Hotel in Kansas City, MO. His career included other prestigious properties where he served as Director of Sales at Peachtree Plaza/Atlanta, GA, Loews Anatole Hotel/Dallas, TX and Opryland Hotel/Nashville, TN and was recognized for his many achievements!

After meeting his soul mate & wife, Gwen, they did everything together and served on various ministries: Victims Relief Ministries, where they helped victims of abuse; Chapel of Hope, where they ministered to inmates; Prestonwood, where they served on the Prayer Board; and currently serving at Jesus Embassy Church.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Gwen Jordan, of Plano, TX and children: Julie Jordan-Wade, Coppell, TX, Michelle Jordan, Garland, TX, Melanie Balch, Grand Prairie, TX and Natasha Rivas, Guadalupe Victoria Mexico. Other survivors include 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Ed was grateful for Jesus who paid the full price for his sin debt! In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Needy Nigerian Orphans and Widows at https://www.gofundme.com/f/needy-nigerian-orphans-and-widows/donate?source=btn or mail to Jesus Embassy Church, 3405 Custer Rd., Ste. 200, Plano, TX 75023.
