As a farm kid in western Nebraska, Clint liked to joke that he grew up "on a horse and a tractor." Mixed in with hours of hard work was fun on his beloved Roy Rogers saddle with his horse Brownie. He excelled in school in both scholarship and citizenship, earning commendations from the American Legion. As a farmhand, he learned how to fix everything and took that skill and curiosity east to the Univ of Nebraska-Lincoln to major in electrical engineering. For his Master's project, he teamed up with another farm boy, EE student Jim Jurgenson of Paxton, NE, and created a device to de-bug wheat without using pesticides.
His devotion to his country led Clint to signing up with the US Marines for Officer Candidate School after college. So, he was off to Quantico, where he was chosen Honor Man in his platoon and accidentally met his future wife, Mary Ann, by knocking on the wrong apartment door. Clint was posted to Camp Pendleton and MCAS El Toro in Santa Ana, CA. Daughters Jennifer and Lisa arrived, the Vietnam war was slowly moving to a close, and Clint and Mary Ann were drawn back to the Midwest, landing with Sperry Univac in Minnesota. That was sixteen good years in defense systems, traveling extensively and working with exceptional people.
Leaving Univac and cold winters, Clint and Mary Ann moved to Austin, Texas, but once again family pulled them back. Clint began a long partnership with friend Mark Cree, and together they founded NuSpeed, first based on a storage device Clint had put together. Soon after, little NuSpeed was acquired by tech giant Cisco. Now came retirement and travel with lake time in Ely, MN with family and friends and winter in Austin TX. Then Parkinson's came along. Clint's last years were spent at Friendship Village, Bloomington. The family is grateful for the wonderful care on the Maple Floor, especially Molly, Debbie, Janelle and Phillipe, and all the sweet young servers at mealtime.
Survived by loving wife, Mary Ann; daughters, Jennifer and Lisa Jurgens; sister, Joan Martin; brother, Jim (Cheryl) Jurgens; brother-in-law, Roy Nelson; nephew, Brian Martin; nieces, Barbara Martin and Kari Jurgens; grandnephews, Zach and Brian Berglund, Jake Martin, Ben and Adam Cremeans; and grandniece, Jocelyn Martin.
Preceded in death by his parents, Violette Dorraine and Walter John Jurgens.
