Walter A. Kampwirth Age 77
Walter Alan Kampwirth (aka Al) loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 23. Al died surrounded by love after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's.
Al was a man of unwavering loyalty and quiet strength, he devoted his life to those he loved. Al dedicated 48 years working for Sears, where he built a career and lasting friendships.
Outside of work, Al found joy in the simple pleasures of life - casting a line on a peaceful morning, shooting for that perfect 300 game, sharing stories with family, and reminiscing about his days racing cars. He had a protective heart and a generous spirit, always putting the well-being of his loved ones before his own.
We are grateful for the time we had with him, the lessons he taught us, and the love he gave so freely. Though he is no longer with us, his strength, kindness, and steady presence will remain in our hearts forever.
He was preceded in death by his wife Kathryn Kampwirth, his parents, Esther Evelyn and Walter Conrad Kampwirth, his sisters Cecelia O'Hare (Jack) and Donna Gergits (Joe) and granddaughter Sarah Niederkorn.
He was the loving father of Liz (Marc) Niederkorn, Heidi (Mark) Mario and Katie (Dan) Boysen. He was the proud Grandfather of Allison, Melissa, Madeline, Jacob, Margaret, Claire and the late Sarah. And uncle to many.
Memorial visitation Saturday, November 1, 2025, 1:00 p.m. until time of Service 4:00 p.m. at the Robert J. Sheehy & Sons Funeral Home, 9000 W. 151st Street, Orland Park, IL.
