Walter Kerentsew Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Heritage Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory on Feb. 3, 2026.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Walter J. Kerentsew, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Walter left us on January 31, 2026, in Warner Robins, Georgia, at the age of 75. Born in Munich, Germany, Walter carried the spirit of resilience and laughter throughout his life, embracing every moment with an infectious energy that inspired those around him.

Walter's journey in life was marked by his unwavering dedication to his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Peggy Ludwig Kerentsew, and his children: Howard (Mary) Kerentsew, Keith (Kerri) Kerentsew, and Tiffany Kerentsew. A proud grandfather, he leaves behind a legacy of love through his grandchildren: Allen Kerentsew, Caleb Kerentsew, Jasmine Betts, Danika Betts, Nicole Kerentsew, Rebecca Sherlin, and Romello Benson, along with 16 great-grandchildren who brought him immense joy. He is also survived by his siblings, Jennie Wooddell, Mary (Ken) Blackmore, and Gary (Jan) McCormick. Walter was preceded in death by his loving parents, Ivan and Anna Kerentsew, and his infant son, Derek.

With a career as a Utility Inspector for the City of Warner Robins, Walter was known not just for his work ethic but for the genuine connections he fostered with colleagues. His kindness and humor created an atmosphere where laughter was ever-present, and teamwork thrived. Walter had a passion for the beauty of nature, especially the beach and ocean. He found solace in his immaculate yard, adored tending to his swimming pool, and loved to entertain friends and family with his famed barbeques, creating unforgettable memories in the warmth of his home.

Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of Walter on Friday, February 6, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory. In celebrating his life, we honor the remarkable man who taught us the essence of kindness, laughter, and the importance of family. Walter J. Kerentsew's spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those he loved and in the stories that will be shared for generations to come. Let us remember him not only for his accomplishments but for the joyous and inspirational life he embraced.

Sending love and condolences to you all. Walter was one of a kind. When our kids were young, we would get together for a fun filled night of Aggravation, tacos and a few beers. There were lots of laughs and the kids always had a great time. Peggy, we are thinking of you all and sending healing prayers. Love you.
