Life Reflections
Mr. Walter Allen Lee Sr. was born on the 27th day of July 1942, in Kennett, Missouri. He was the fifth of nine children born to parents, Percy and Odell Lee. Walter Sr. was preceded in death by his loving parents, Percy and Odell Lee, sister, Viteola Jackson and three brothers, Zane Gilmer, Harry Lee and
Frederick Lee Sr. He accepted Christ at an early age at Friendship Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.
Mr. Walter Allen Lee Sr. was educated in the Popular Bluff public school system. He enlisted in the U.S. Army shortly after graduating from high school in 1962 and served six years active duty. He did a tour in Germany, Korea, the Dominic Republic and served as a Sergeant in the First Infantry Division in the Berlin crisis and the Vietnam War. In 1968, he relocated to St. Louis, Missouri and began working at McDonnell Douglass Aerospace in the Gemini Program and eventually went to General Motors in 1971.
Mr. Walter Allen Lee Sr. met his beloved wife Shalley Ann (Davis) Lee who had relocated from Bastrop, Louisiana in 1968. They were united in Holy Matrimony on February 9, 1969, and to this union three children were born, Teresa, Walter II and Candi. They celebrated 53 years of marriage on February 9, 2022.
Mr. Walter Allen Lee Sr. along with his wife, Shalley Lee and their children moved from St. Louis, Missouri, to Bowling Green, Kentucky in 1981 via his employer, General Motors. In 2005, he retired from General Motors Corvette Assembly after 34 years of dedicated service to enjoy his retirement years and
spend more time with family and friends.
Mr. Walter Allen Lee Sr. was a loving husband, devoted father and proud grandfather with a heart of gold who cherished his family. He was an active member in his community including membership of the Bowling Green NAACP Chapter, Bowling Green Parks and Recreation Center, United Autoworkers Corvette Assembly, Boy Scout Trooper Leader and an active Parks and Recreation basketball coach for
over ten years.
Mr. Walter Allen Lee Sr. leaves to cherish his memory his dear wife, Shalley A. Lee, Bowling Green, Kentucky; two daughters, Teresa Lee, Whitestown, Indiana. Candi Lee, Bowling Green, Kentucky son; Walter Lee II, Louisville, Kentucky. three grandchildren, Courtland James and Ashley James, Whitestown, Indiana and Shaun Lee, Bowling Green, Kentucky; one brother, Percy Lee Jr. (Patricia), Roselle, Illinois; three sisters, Kay Francis Cooper, Kennett, Missouri; Jennie Lee, Jacksonville, Arkansas and Jettie Young (Fred), Fairview Height, Illinois and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The deepest level of worship is praising God in spite of pain, thanking God during a trial, trusting him when tempted, surrendering while suffering, loving him when he seems distant. ~ Rick Warren
