Walter Alfred "W.A." Long

Walter Alfred "W.A." Long, 77, died on Wednesday, September 25, 2024. Born in Person County, he was the son of the late Ernest "Cotton" Long and Gracie Mildred Jordan Long. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his siblings: Tracy Dale Long, Donnie Darrell Long and Sharon Long Winstead. Mr. Long was a member of Community Baptist Church in Danville, VA. He worked for the telephone company for 41 years having retired from CenturyLink. Mr. Long served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
Surviving are his wife, Deborah Rogers Long of the home; two children: Tracy Long (Tracy) of Elon and Michelle Long (Eric) of Milton; one brother, Neal Long (Crystal) of Roxboro; four grandchildren: Kaitlyn East, Kacey Long, Tanner Anderson and Skylar Chance; one step-granddaughter, Tabitha Whitman; two great-grandchildren: Elizabeth East and Raylan East; three step great-grandchildren: McKenzie Langley, Haiden Langley and Hunter Whitman.
Funeral service will be held 12 PM Saturday, September 28, 2024 at Theresa Baptist Church (3919 Chub Lake Road, Roxboro, NC 27574). Officiating will be the Rev. Ray Mitz, the Rev. Herbert Brown, Mr. Christopher Long and Mr. Vernon Massengil. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the service (10:30 AM-12 PM).
