Walter Steven McLaughlin, a Yucaipa resident for 48 years, passed away Saturday, April 19, 2025 in Loma Linda, California. He was 74.

Walt was born July 9, 1950, in San Bernardino, California. He grew up with his family in Rialto, where he graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1968. Walt moved to Yucaipa in 1977 and made it his hometown until his passing. 

He worked for Stater Bros, starting in 1970 as a grocery puller, and then as a forklift operator in the warehouse. He retired after 33 years in 2003.

Walt enjoyed time spent with family and many dear friends. He was a musician, playing in bands through the years. His first band was called Early Tymes. He played bass guitar. His love of music lead him to many concerts. He loved music documentaries and listening to all of his favorite artist and bands. The Beatles, Eagles, and the Allman Brothers are just some of his favorites.


He loved cars. He owned many cool cars throughout his life. He was a member of the "Past Pleasures Car Club" in Yucaipa, where he would proudly display his red Corvette and his1964 El Camino.

Walt loved the Los Angeles Dodgers. They were his team for life.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Walt and Betty McLaughlin, and his brother; John McLaughlin.

He is survived by his son; Robert Steven McLaughlin and Rhonda, his grandson; Brandon McLaughlin. He is also survived by his brother; Robert Edward McLaughlin, sister in law Darryn; his nephew Eric McLaughlin, his niece Kaitlyn Harrison, her husband Josh and his great-nephew Matthew.


Walt leaves behind many dear friends and his beloved Boston Terriers, Annie and Rip.

Our lives were blessed with "Walt" as our Dad, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, Cousin, and Friend. He will be deeply missed.
