Dateline: Moro, Illinois
Brad "Walter" Nettleton, age 69, of Moro Illinois, passed away peacefully surrounded by his beloved spouse, son and brother, on Thursday morning, March 27, 2025.
Brad was born on July 1, 1955, in St Louis, Missouri, to Juletta (Judy) Nettleton and the late Bill Nettleton. He is survived and deeply missed by his loving wife DeAnna Danow; his son Allen Nettleton and wife; his mother Juletta Nettleton; brother Brian Nettleton; sister Jill Nettleton; and his nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
Brad worked at Olin Brass located in Alton Illinois for 41 years as a Hot Mill Operator but was a Machinist by trade.
Some of his favorite times were spent traveling and trading the cold winters in Illinois for warm, sunny weather at Port Isabel, Texas. For many years he enjoyed traveling to this location and setting his camper. There he enjoyed many fun activities with his wife and friends which included pickleball, days at the beach and karaoke.
Brad loved being outdoors and enjoyed ground and above ground activities such as riding his bike and skydiving. His adventurous, kind and loving spirit touched the lives of everyone he met.
Brad lived a life filled with love, kindness, generosity and a touch of humor. His legacy of love and hard work will live on in those who knew and loved him. While the world is dimmer without him, Heaven shines even brighter with his presence.
A visitation will be held on Saturday April 12, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at Elias Kallal & Schaaf Funeral in Bethalto, Illinois, followed by a mass service at 4:00pm.

Over the last 5 years we winter in Port Isabel Texas. We meet Brad and Deann there and became good friends. Brad always had a smile and was never a stranger to no one. He was a kind soul of a man. Deann lost her soul mate and best friend. We will always treasure the great times we had together. Rest in peace dear friend. You will be missed so much. Love always Robin and Terry Sullvan

Over the years we have wintered in Port Isabel with Brad and DeAnna. Quickly they became more than good friends, more like family to Lori and I. Although it has only been 6 years, it seems like we have known each other and been friends forever.

Our time together has been such an adventure!

From surviving Covid, and the Texas winter freeze of 2021, to learning pickleball, playing pool, cycling, kayaking, the beach, the pool, good food, good music, karaoke, dancing (even occasional line dancing), and just being together. Brad's spirit, humor and sense of adventure made him a pleasure to be with.

When Brad fell gravely ill, it alarmed us deeply. I am very saddened that our attempt to get Brad home quickly to get the medical attention he needed was not successful.

We will always treasure the 6 winter´s we had together.  We miss Brad dearly. Port Isabel will not be the same without him. Our best bud and Dee's soulmate has been taken from us far too soon.

Brad, we love you and will miss you always.

Where to start?? (Big deep sigh) D, to watch you and Brad together was such an inspiration to me!! You two were such an amazing team....Always doing fun things together and having fun with each other. I loved chatting with him...you too of course De! Brad was amazing and deeply saddened by his loss. I was dealing with PTSD badly when I met him. He helped me makes sense of life and helped to see the joy in life again. He would always tell me that he wanted De to marry him. God Bless to all his loved ones and sorry for your loss.

We enjoyed your company so much. The first time you introduced yourself to Hilario and me I could have sworn I was listening to John Wayne. Your voice was smooth like molasses. We enjoyed dancing and listening to your stories about living and travel by the fire. Your love of Dee shown bright on your face anytime she was near. We are so grateful to have known you and devastated we couldn't take just one trip with you. May your memory be a blessing to all who miss your presence To we meet again~ Selah Herrera (Port Isabel neighbor)

Brad you will surely be missed. We have known each other for many years. I still remember when I came to meet Deanna's new man and it was you. We had memories from going to Calvary Baptist Church in Edwardsville. Lots of fond memories. You treated DeAnna like a queen. You will be remembered and missed. Say hi to our families up in heaven.
