Walter Damian Ovando

Walter Ovando, born on February 23, 1941, in La Paz, Bolivia, passed away on December 29, 2025, in New Port Richey, Florida. Throughout his life He was known as a beloved father and a respected business man. Walter was a visionary individual, which served as a foundation for his life accomplishments.
Walter was passionate about sports, particularly as a dedicated rally car driver, promoter, and sponsor as well an enthusiastic Formula 1 fan. His love for racing was matched only by his commitment to the development of BMX in Bolivia, where he was a pioneering figure in introducing and promoting the sport. During his lifetime, he cherished both the thrill of competition and the camaraderie of fellow sports enthusiasts.
Walter is survived by his daughter Gina and son-in-law Gaston; daughter Giovana and son-in-law Willy; daughter Vicky and son-in-law Jorge; as well as his son, Walter Jr. and daughter-in-law Sandy; their mother Fanny and Grandchildren Sergio, Matias and Joaquin. He leaves behind a legacy of determination, passion, hard work and love for his family and community. In celebration of his life, family and friends will gather for a memorial service at CHFH - Large Chapel on January 17, 2026, at 3:30 PM, at Curlew Hills 1750 Curlew Road, Palm Harbor, Florida.
