Family will receive friends on Sunday, December 3 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Joyner's Funeral Home.
Melvin was a faithful employee of the NCDOT for over thirty years.
Melvin is survived by his loving wife, Norma Mitchell Reason of Bailey; son, Walter Melvin Reason, Jr. and wife, DeeDee of Macclesfield; daughter, Lisa Skinner of Macclesfield; step-daughter, Lou Jean Bryant and husband, Mark of Spring Hope; step-daughter, Janet Robinson and husband, David of Spring Hope; grandchildren, Jackson Reason, Jayden Reason, Matt Harding, Bryan Skinner, Rebel Reason, Kathryn Robinson, and William Robinson; brothers, Ray Reason of Morehead and James Reason of Elm City; and sister, Faye Williamson of Fremont.
Melvin was preceded in death by his brother, Ernest Reason and his parents, Earl and Nettie Reason.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wilson Hospice, 1901 Tarboro Street SW, Wilson, NC 27893.
