With deep love and sorrow, we announce the passing of Walter John Songaila, who left this world peacefully at home, surrounded by his devoted family, on July 25, 2025, and entered into his eternal rest with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Born July 15, 1942, to Peter and Mary (Wienckoski) Songaila, Walter lived a life marked by generosity, laughter and unwavering dedication to those he loved. He shared 60 beautiful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Carole Ann (Wanat) Songaila, a partnership grounded in love, friendship and joy.
Walter was a proud and loving father to Tom Songaila, married to Lori (Yencha) Songaila, and their children, Ryan and Ashley; Terri Songaila; and Mary Kay (Songaila) Sheahan, married to Brian Sheahan, and their children Lauren and the late Kyle Sheahan, whose memory Walter carried tenderly in his heart. He was also a cherished brother to Loretta Songaila and the late Teddy Songaila, brother-in-law to Robert and Sandra Wanat, and uncle to many nieces and nephews.
His legacy is one of deep love, strong family bonds and a life well-lived. Walter will be profoundly missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date for close family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to your favorite charity in his name is welcome.
Arrangements are under the care of Bednarski Funeral Home, 168 Wyoming Ave., Wyoming.

Carole and Family,
Rose Ann and I were sorry to hear about Walter.
Wally and I had some good times and laughs while
setting up Weis Markets soup departments. We
traveled all over the countryside and had some good
talks - sports, the job etc
Oh, to bring back the good times.
Rest in peace Wally. God needed the best to help him.
