RICHMOND, IN– Walter Daniel Stanley, age 89, of Richmond, Indiana, died Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at home.

Born June 9, 1936, in Dublin, TX to Wilbur Walter and Mary Wells Stanley. He was a proud veteran of the U. S. Airforce and received a bachelor's degree from the University of Texas, Arlington. Walter worked as a manager in freight sales for American Airlines before retiring in 1987 after 27 years of service. He liked working with and restoring antiques and was an avid golfer. Early in his life he loved to create comics and paint. Walter loved spending time with his family.

Survivors include his daughter, Jessica (Spencer) Tidd of Louisburg, NC.; sons, Daniel (Sherrie) Stanley of Austin, TX., Michael (Leanne) Stanley of Mt. Ulla, NC., Alan (Kerri) Stanley of Sheffield, IL., and John Vale of St. Charles, IL.; grandchildren, Aubrey (Jason), Justin (Brooke), Shane (Kendall), Mary Elizabeth (TJ), Meredith (Jamey), and Michael (Jessie); great grandchildren, Sophia, Michaela, and Morton; sister, Kathy Martin of Huntsville, TX.; brother, Weldon (Gloria) Stanley of Austin, TX.; dog, Buttons; and cat Bubbles.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Elizabeth "Betty" Stanley and Rebecca Stanley; parents; sister, Anna Mae Stanley; and brothers Billy Ray and Bobby Stanley.

A graveside service will be held at the Old Dublin Cemetery in Dublin, Texas at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to an animal shelter of the donor's choice.
