Walter Starz Jr.

Walter Albert Starz, Jr. March 14, 2023 Walter Albert Starz, Jr., 94, of Liverpool, NY passed away on Tuesday at St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Walter A. and Ethel (Justice) Starz, Sr. After graduating high school, Walt enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps stationed in Korea as a Radio Technician and was presented the Purple Heart medal. After serving his country, he returned home and completed his education at the University of Pittsburgh, obtaining his Bachelor's degree in Engineering. Walt worked for General Electric as an Electrical Engineer in their Heavy Military Department, retiring in 1997 after 40 years of employment. Walt ran track and cross country while in college and was an avid bowler later in life. He is predeceased by his former wife of 50 years, Emilie (Snyder) Starz in 2005 and his brother, William Justice Starz. Surviving to cherish his memory is his wife, Judy McVity, two daughters, Mary Lou (Paul) Whitelock and Cheryl (Jim) Paino, his son, William (Margaret) Starz, five grandchildren; Sarah, Rachel, Deborah, Virginia and Abigail, three great-grandchildren; Zoey, Riley and Levi. There will be no calling hours. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at 11:00 am at the Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel, 4069 Howlett Hill Road, Syracuse, NY 13215.
