Walter Steinkraus Obituary
Walter Jerome Steinkraus, age 75, Plymouth Minnesota, passed away on June 5th, 2025 at Methodist Hospital.
Walter was born August 25, 1949 in Chicago, IL to Sam and Marian Steinkraus. He attended Jamestown College and graduated with a degree in Chemistry in 1971. He attended Hamline University and received a Juris Doctorate degree in 1978. He practiced law as a patent attorney for many decades. His favorite hobbies were reading, bicycling and kayaking.
He married Barbara McMillan in 1975. They adopted 3 beautiful children from Korea.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Marian Steinkraus. He is survived by his wife Barbara, his children Amelia, Ethan Stein (Danielle), William and his grandson Elliott. He is also survived by his siblings Lee, Joy, Norman, Shirley and Pam.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Memorials preferred to Children's Home Society of Minnesota, Hamline University or Jamestown University.

I knew Walter (Wally as he was called then) from my years at Jamestown College. His long hair and headband were his trademarks. His intelligence and wit set him apart from most. I was saddened to hear of his passing and offer my condolences to his family.

I was lucky enough to be Walter´s law partner from the day we were both offered partnerships at Vidas & Arrett, then changed to Vidas, Arrett & Steinkraus. Walter was a brilliant attorney and chemist and I always looked forward to working with him and getting his advice. We had many wonderful years together and spent many lunch hours discussing the law, politics and practically anything else of interest. I am honored to have been his friend and law partner.
