Walter Szepanski Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Carmon Windsor Funeral Home on Jan. 23, 2026.
Walter G. "Walt" Szepanski, Jr., 81, of Windsor, beloved husband of Patricia A. (Hollis) Szepanski passed away peacefully at Hartford Hospital on Wednesday, January 21, 2026. Born in Hartford on May 17, 1944, the son of the late Walter G. Szepanski, Sr. and Charlotte N. (Drumm) Szepanski. Walt attended local schools and was a 1962 graduate of Price Tech High School in Hartford.

Walt proudly served his country in the Air National Guard. Upon completion of his six years in the Air National Guard he returned home and began a long successful career. Walt owned and operated Valley Radio and TV in Windsor for ten years.

Walt was a 55-year communicant of St. Damien of Molokai Church in Windsor. He was a devout Catholic and devoted member of his church and served as an altar server, Eucharistic Minister, Catechist Teacher for 13 years, longtime member of Knights of Columbus Council #3181 and part of the St. Gabriel School after school program.

Walt enjoyed tinkering. He could fix anything and everything. He especially enjoyed rebuilding cars with his son Gregory in his backyard. Walt was kind, generous and would do anything to help anyone at any time.

Walt also loved to talk to people, this was never more evident every Sunday after church when he would make his rounds at Dom's chatting and joking with friends but more importantly listening to them and making sure, they were doing ok.

Walt is survived by his wife of 59 years, Patricia A. (Hollis) Szepanski of Windsor, his son, Gregory Szepanski and his wife Lisa of Clermont, FL, and his granddaughter, Sarah Szepanski of Maitland, FL.

Walt was predeceased by his parents, and his brother Warren Szepanski and his sister, Rosemary Szepanski.

Walt's family will receive friends on Thursday, January 29, 2026, from 4-7PM at the Carmon Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor, CT 06095. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, January 30, 2026, at 11AM at St. Joseph Church, 1747 Poquonock Ave., Windsor, CT 06095. Burial will follow with full Military honors at St. Joseph Cemetery, 2101 Poquonock Ave., Windsor, CT 06095. For condolences or directions please visit www.carmonfuneralhome.com.
