Walter Lewis Turner, age 90, passed away on March 5, 2026, at Rainey Hospice House.

Born in Anderson, on October 5, 1935, he was the son of the late Jessie and Wade D. Turner.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-eight years, Betty Dunn Turner; his son, Tony Turner (Melissa) of Greenwich, Connecticut; and his grandchildren, Hannah Turner Davis (Jonathan), Caroline Turner, and Jack Turner. He is also survived by his brother, Frank Turner (Connie). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Wade Turner (Sandra).

Lewis worked at Owens Corning for 42 years where he was recognized with several monetary and service awards for his contributions to improving plant operations. He was also honored with an award recognizing his lifetime commitment as a blood donor.

He attended Boys High where he participated in several sports.

Lewis was a faithful member of Eureka Baptist Church for more than 30 years, where he served as a deacon and on several church committees. He later became a member of Concord Baptist Church where he worshipped for more than 20 years.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to caregiver Lisa Mills for her devoted care, and to the staff of Hospice of the Upstate, especially Jennifer Wing and Donna Whitmire for their compassionate care.

He was privately buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
