Walterine "Allene" Latimore. a devoted mother and grandmother, left a lasting impact on all who knew her. Born on September 21, 1946, to Audley and Lossie Mae Lattimore. She passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 26, 2025.
Allene was a cherished figure in her family and community. Known affectionately as "Baby Grandma" to her grandchildren; to her friends she was known as "Grandma Lattimore," and "Mama" or "Little Lady" to her children, she was a source of warmth and care. Her early acceptance of Christ and dedication to the Plantation Missionary Baptist Church exemplified her faith and commitment, where she served as the Sunday School secretary and choir member until her health failed. Walterine's compassion extended to her career as a Certified Nursing Assistant at the Attala County Nursing Home, where she worked until her retirement in 2012. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, Aja and Ashlei.
Walterine was preceded in death by her parents, Audley and Lossie Mae Lattimore, her sister, Patsy Lattimore; her brothers, Clarence, Clayton, Willie Lee, and Cleo Lattimore; and her nephews Kelvin Lattimore and Lendale Merritt.
She leaves to cherish her memories, three biological children; Glenda Lattimore, of Byram, MS; James Lattimore of Ethel, MS; and Carolyn Lattimore-Jones (Monty) of Byram, MS; her niece Allice "Lisa" Lattimore of Jackson, MS, who she helped to raise as her own; one sister Zula M. Merritt (Robert); one brother Ralph Lattimore, both of Nashville, TN; two sisters-in-law, Stella M. Lattimore and Janice Lattimore, both of Ethel, MS and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces/nephews, friends, and extended family.
Walterine's life was a testament to love, service, and family, and her legacy will endure in the hearts of those she touched.
