In Loving Memory of Walton Edward Finto
December 18, 1945 – July 18, 2025

Walton Edward Finto, a devoted father, beloved grandfather, proud veteran, and faithful Christian, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2025, in Decatur, Texas, at the age of 79. Though his time on this earth has come to a close, his legacy of humility, love, and quiet strength will endure in the hearts of all who knew him.

Born on December 18, 1945, in the small farming community of Leming, Texas, Walton was the son of Edwin and Frances Finto. Raised on the family farm alongside his multiple siblings, Walton learned early the values of hard work, faith, and family-virtues that remained the foundation of his life until his final days. His childhood was marked by close-knit bonds, dirt roads, and days spent helping on the land that shaped his unassuming character and deep appreciation for simple living.

As a young man, Walton answered the call to serve his country with courage and honor. He joined the United States Army and served bravely in the Vietnam War, a chapter of his life that he looked back on with quiet pride. Though he rarely spoke of his experiences, those closest to him knew how much his service meant to him. His patriotism ran deep, rooted not in fanfare but in duty and devotion to something greater than himself.

Walton's deep faith guided him throughout his life. A devout Christian, he walked humbly with God and lived out his beliefs through his kindness, generosity, and gentle spirit. Whether through a listening ear, a helping hand, or a warm smile, he was a source of strength and comfort to family, friends, and strangers alike.

He had a deep appreciation for the past-perhaps because it reminded him of home. He loved old cars and could often be found admiring their craftsmanship or sharing stories about classics long gone. Old cowboy movies were another of his favorite pastimes, a nod to a simpler time and values he held dear. Flea markets were a beloved weekend ritual, where Walton would browse treasures with the curiosity of a child and the eye of someone who could find beauty in the overlooked.

Above all, Walton cherished time with his loved ones. Family was his heart and soul. He is survived by his loving sisters, Edna Watson, Ellen Thien, Joyce Warner, and Doris Clark; his son, Tray Finto, and Tray's wife, Amanda; and their children: Brittany Finto, Tray Finto Jr., Caidyn Miller, Chloe Finto, Abigail Jackson, and Trent Finto. He also leaves behind his daughter, Sheila Finto, and her daughter Angela Eden. Walton was especially proud to welcome a new generation into the family with his great-granddaughters, Sadie Young, Emmie Cerda, and Cassie Cerda, who brought him great joy in his later years.

Walton was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Frances Finto, whose love and guidance shaped the man he became. Though they are gone, their memory lived on through Walton's life-and now continues through his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild.

He was a simple man who never asked for much, yet gave so much to others. Those who knew him will remember his quiet laughter, the twinkle in his eye when he talked about old cars or told stories from his youth, and the way he made everyone feel welcome and loved.

As we mourn the loss of Walton Edward Finto, we also celebrate a life well-lived-a life defined not by riches or fame, but by unwavering faith, enduring love, and a spirit of humility that left a mark on all who had the privilege to know him.

In honor of his life and legacy, a funeral service and burial with full military honors will be held on Friday, August 1st, at 10:00 AM at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, located at 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway in Dallas, Texas. Family, friends, and all whose lives were graced by Walton's presence are warmly invited to attend as we gather to remember, celebrate, and lay to rest a man who served his country with honor and lived his life with integrity and heart.

Rest in peace, Walton. You have run your race with grace, and now you are home.
