St. Martinville- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Notre Dame Catholic Church for Walton Joseph Stewart Jr., 64, who passed away peacefully surrounding his loving family on March 23, 2023.
A visitation will take place at the funeral home St. Martinville on Saturday from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM.
A rosary will be prayed at 11:00 AM on Saturday.
Rev. Abelardo Gabriel will officiate at the funeral mass.
Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery.
Walton Stewart, Jr., affectionately known as, "Lanky," to his family and friends was born July, 17, 1958. Everyone knew who Lanky was. He was known as the "Legend" on main street in St. Martinville. He enjoyed playing dominos, painting, dancing, and most importantly, caring for anyone who needed. Family was everything to Walton and he spent his time graciously with them. He will be forever missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his mother, Barbara Benoit Stewart; sons, David Bourda and Marcus Bourda (Felicia); 17 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; siblings, Brenda Stewart Bernard, Ronald Stewart, Donald Stewart, Alachia Stewart Babers (Anthony), Denise Stewart Provost (Perry), Darlene Stewart (Charles), and Alvin Stewart; and a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Walton Stewart, Sr.; maternal grandparents, Emelda Dauphine and Adam Benoit; and paternal grandparents, Alcide and Agnes Stewart.
Pallbearers will be David Bourda, Charles Landry, Jr, Trayvon Taylor, Gage Stewart, Kyle Babers. Jr, and Xavier Provost.
Honorary pallbearers will be Marcus Bourda, Ronald Stewart, Donald Stewart, Alvin Stewart, Perry Provost, Quento Stewart, Devin Bernard, Macquinn Stewart,Terry Anthony Mitchell, and Corey Miles.
Pellerin Funeral Home (337-332-2111) is in charge of arrangements.
