Waltraud Nelms, affectionately known as "Hi Sweetie," passed away peacefully on August 31, 2025, at Baylor Scott and White, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 29, 1957, in Germany and dedicated her life to her family and career.
Waltraud enjoyed a fulfilling career with FCBI, where she worked for 25 years and ascended to the esteemed position of Vice President. Her determination and drive not only propelled her career forward but created a path for others to follow, showcasing her commitment to excellence and leadership.
An alumna of the University of Phoenix, Waltraud graduated with a Bachelor's Degree and was a proud member of the National Honor Society. Her educational pursuits were a testament to her unyielding desire for personal growth and achievement.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Waltraud cherished the role of a mother and grandmother, finding immeasurable joy in her family. She is survived by her son, Patrick, and daughter-in-law, Cassie. Her grandchildren, Thomas, Lucas, Jessi, Erik, Kora, Lana, and Markus JR, were the pride of her heart, and she devoted countless hours to creating beautiful memories with them. Waltraud's son, Markus, also carries forward her legacy of love and dedication.
Known for her vibrant personality, Waltraud was driven and determined, always ensuring that those around her had a wonderful time. She loved to cook, read, and play video games on her Nintendo Switch, particularly enjoying “Story of Seasons.” Her passion for life also extended to spending time outdoors, whether it was going for hikes or leisurely walks with friends. Some of her favorite moments included BBQs in the backyard and holiday gatherings at the beach.
Waltraud is remembered fondly by a circle of close friends who held a special place in her life, including Linda, Marsha, Wendy, Dixie, Silvia, and work friends Pam, Melissa, and Susan. Additionally, her sister Angelica and niece Olivia have been cherished members of her family.
Despite her strong battle with cancer, Waltraud approached each day with courage and grace, continuing to inspire everyone around her. Her legacy of love, strength, and joy will forever endure in the hearts of her family and friends, who will miss her dearly. Waltraud Nelms leaves behind a rich tapestry of memories and an indelible mark on the lives she touched.
