Wanda Aldridge Obituary

Wanda Aldridge

July 10, 1947 - August 21, 2025

Charlotte, North Carolina - Wanda Aldridge passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2025. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, she touched each of us in unique and lasting ways. Born, Wanda Jolene High, in Cheraw, SC, she lived her entire life in Charlotte, NC until the last several years when health issues took her to PA to live near her daughter, Amy.

She retired after 30 years from the University of North Carolina – Charlotte, working in the computer database department. Always an active faithful member of the several churches where she belonged in her lifetime, she instilled the values of kindness, devotion, and love without condition. Devoted to her family, she created a home filled with love, laughter, and tradition.

Wanda's passions were simple but profound. She loved books, often getting lost in the pages of a story. She found joy in cross-stitching, creating pieces with care and patience that reflected the same devotion she poured into her family. Wanda loved sports-she could talk endlessly about the Carolina Panthers and the North Carolina Tar Heels, cheering them on with the same enthusiasm she gave to her loved ones.

Wanda leaves behind a legacy of love carried on through her family by her daughter, Amy Ruggiero and her husband, Vito of Chester Springs, PA, and their son, Jackson; her son, Jeffery Aldridge and his wife, Wendy of Jacksonville, FL; her grandchildren, Jackson Ruggiero, Tyler Aldridge, Kassidy Crews and her husband, Jared, and Bailey Aldridge who were her pride and joy. And her love continued to grow with her great-grandchildren, Walter and Luke Crews, who brought light to her later years. She is also survived by her sister, Alysia Austin of Jacksonville, FL.

Wanda was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ronald Gene Aldridge; her parents, Claude and Louise High, and her great-grandchildren, Jack and Eloise Crews. While her passing leaves a deep ache in our hearts, we take comfort in knowing she is reunited with those she loved so dearly. We have much gratitude for the years we were blessed to share with her.

Funeral services for Wanda will be held 11:00 AM on Friday, September 5, 2025, at Eastern Hills Baptist Church, 4855 Albemarle Rd, Charlotte, NC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at Sharon Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be offered in memory of Wanda to Blood Cancer United (formerly Leukemia & Lymphoma Society), PO Box 98011, Washington, DC 20090 or via https://bloodcancerunited.org/.
