On Friday, October 24, 2025, Mrs. Wanda Mae Chase Allen heard the gentle whisper of her Savior calling her home and peacefully exchanged her earthly labor for eternal rest, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on June 26, 1946, in Manchester, North Carolina, Wanda was the beloved daughter of the late Mr. Charlie Chase and Mrs. Margaret McArthur Chase. From an early age, she radiated a joyful spirit, a love for learning, and a heart devoted to serving others. She was a proud alumna of Anne Chesnutt High School and Fayetteville State University, where she nurtured her passion for education and service.
On December 19, 1970, Wanda united in holy matrimony with the love of her life, Mr. John Allen. Their sacred bond of nearly fifty-five years was a shining testament to faith, devotion, and enduring love. From this union, they were blessed with three beloved children: Marquetta, JaVal, and Jemia.
As a faithful military wife, Wanda traveled alongside her husband and children to various duty stations across the United States and abroad. Throughout these years, she continued to fulfill her life's calling-nurturing, guiding, and educating children with compassion and excellence. Her distinguished career in early childhood education included federal service as Director of Camp Darby Child Development Center at Camp Darby (Livorno), Italy; Director of the Family Child Care Services at Fort Story, Virginia; and finally, as Training & Curriculum Specialist for the Child Development Center and Family Child Care Services at Fort Story, where she retired with honor on June 30, 2008.
A devoted servant of the Lord, Wanda was a faithful member of Antioch Baptist Church for over 35 years. She served joyfully on the Usher Board, Highest Praise Dance Ministry, Trustee Board, Deaconess Ministry, and as President of her beloved Gleaners Ministry until she answered the Lord's call. Her deep love for God, her church, and her pastor was evident to all who knew her-her faith was both her foundation and her light.
Wanda was preceded in death by her son, JaVal Allen; daughter, Jemia Allen; and siblings, Samed Bilal, Labeeb Bilal, and Mildred Chase.
She leaves to celebrate and cherish her precious memory: her devoted husband of nearly fifty-five years, John Allen; her loving daughter, Marquetta V. Allen; her cherished grandchildren, Quashei Charity and Chase Goins; her beloved bonus mother, Margie Chase; bonus siblings, Alfreda Melton (Greg), and Michael Chase; sister-cousins, Mrs. Barbia Clark, Mrs. Dorothy Bashir, and Ms. Patricia Brown; godchildren, Cassandra and Lasandra Mason, Markell Javal Clark, Jonathan McLean, and Jahad Bilal; sister-in-loves; Jeanette Allen and Clementine Stanley along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, colleagues, and dear friends whose lives were forever enriched by her grace, wisdom, and gentle spirit.
Though Wanda's earthly journey has ended, the light of her faith, love, and legacy will continue to illuminate the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
