Wanda Lou "Lockhart" Armes

Mrs. Wanda Lou Lockhart Armes, age 86, of Abingdon, Virginia passed away Sunday (January 18, 2026) at her home. Born September 29, 1939 in Grundy, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Vernie Keen Lockhart. A lifelong resident of southwest Virginia, she had formerly been employed as a LPN at Russell County Medical Center. A devoted Christian, she was a member of the Church of Christ and loved reading her Bible and flower gardening.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Armes and two siblings.

Survivors include three sons, Derek Stephen Armes, Jimmy Wayne Armes and Lisa, and William Robert Armes; four siblings, Geraldine Miller, James Lockhart, Mary Ellen Lockhart, and Glen Lockhart; several additional extended family members also survive.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Wednesday in Ketron Memorial Gardens at Lebanon, Virginia. Those wishing to attend are asked to assemble at the cemetery.
