Wanda Eckhardt Obituary

Published by Watson-Hunt Funeral Home - Perry on Sep. 5, 2008.
PERRY -

Wanda Sue Eckhardt, 54, departed her worldly home on Thursday, September 4, 2008, in the comforts of her own home surrounded by her daughters and devoted husband. A Celebration of Life Service will be held for Mrs. Eckhardt at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 13, 2008, at First Christian Church of Perry. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to ALCASE (Alliance for Lung Cancer Advocacy, Support, and Education), www.alcase.org, or Heart of Georgia Hospice, 103 Westridge Dr., Warner Robins, GA 31088.

Mrs. Eckhardt was born in Talladega, Alabama, on December 8, 1953, to Virginia Pittman of Birmingham, Alabama, and the late William Treace. Mrs. Eckhardt attended high school at Hapeville High School and spent most of her early adult years in Atlanta, Georgia, where she met the love of her life, Bob. Mr. and Mrs. Eckhardt married on June 23, 1977 and welcomed the first of three daughters a year later. After the 1979 birth of their second daughter, the couple moved to Perry, Georgia, where they have since resided. Mrs. Eckhardt was a homemaker and enjoyed many hobbies including cooking, shopping, and reading. Mrs. Eckhardt's favorite pastime was encouraging, spoiling, and spending time with each of her seven grandchildren. Mrs. Eckhardt's greatest joy came from frequent slumber parties, holiday and weekend gatherings, and summer days spent with them. She was delighted to bake their birthday cakes each and every year.

Mrs. Eckhardt is survived by her devoted and loving husband, Bob Eckhardt of Perry; three daughters and seven grandchildren, Brandy (Tim) Nasworthy and their children, Sean and Kenna, Keri (Matt) Belflower and their children Avory, Micah, and Peyton, and Megan (Sam) Calloway and their children, Bobby and Gabe; mother, Virginia Pittman of Birmingham, AL; brother, Rusty (Donna) Blythe of Birmingham, Alabama; and sister, Cathy (Skip) Doyle of Cape Coral, Florida. Mrs. Eckhardt was also loved and will be greatly missed by several aunts, uncles, and nephews.

Mrs. Eckhardt was preceded in death by her father, William Treace, and her brother, Butch Treace.

Bob and Girls,
I was so sorry to hear about Wanda. She and you all will always hold a special place in my heart.
From the first time I cut your hair untill I moved. I remember how proud your mom was of each of your talents. Wanda loved you all and she loved life, and live it.
Bob was our bug man. Sabrina Dee Dee and Larry always thought your mom and dad was funny and enjoyed them when they were arround. Again I am so sorry and you are all in my prayers.
