Wanda Joy Hendrickson

Wanda Joy Hendrickson, 81, passed away peacefully at her home in Silver City to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on Monday, December 2, 2024. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Wanda was born in Modesto, CA on December 15, 1942 to Elmer and Lahoma Winkelman.
She is survived by her loving husband, Melvin Hendrickson. She was swept off her feet when she met this dashing young sailor boy at the age of 17 and they were inseparable for over 64 years. She is also survived by one daughter, Leslie Rodriguez, of Silver City; one granddaughter, Lindsey Rodriguez, of Mesa, AZ; and one grandson, Nicholas Rodriguez, of Belen, NM.
She was preceded in death by her precious son, Brian, at the age of 11; her parents; one sister, Norma Schaefer; and one brother, Ronald Winkelman.
She was a devoted wife, mother, Nana, and to her Australian Shepherd dog (Peek-a-Boo). She loved the outdoors and enjoyed trail riding with their horses in her earlier years. She was an avid painter and her mediums were in oils, pastels, and watercolors. After her husband retired, they went off on long RV adventures and travelled many miles visiting different national and state parks. Most importantly, she was a devoted, faithful servant of Jesus Christ. She was Born-Again in 1979 and held to her faith steadfast through good and really hard times. She never passed on an opportunity to share her testimony and how God transformed her life, knowing that in Christ Jesus, you could also have hope and everlasting life. Her favorite Bible verse was Romans 8:28, "And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose." She will be deeply missed by her family and the many friends she has made over the years. Thank you to everyone for all your prayers, cards, flowers, and food during her illness. Also, thank you to all the staff at Ambercare (Rene, Amanda, Jackie, Darrel) for your wonderful kindness and care that you provided to her and her family.
A Celebration of Life will be held on December 21, 2024 at 10:00 am at Calvary Chapel of Silver City, Hwy 90 South. Pastor Joseph Gros will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honor of Wanda to Calvary Chapel of Silver City and/or Victory Assembly of God in Santa Clara.
