Wanda June McCamy

Wanda June McCamy, 94, of Chattanooga, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on June 20, 1931, in Sparta, Tennessee, and throughout her life also made homes in Rochester, New York, and Virginia before settling in Tennessee.

Wanda lived a life marked by generosity, faith, and unwavering devotion to her family. A longtime member of Clear Creek Church of Christ, and previously the Tiftonia Church of Christ, she was deeply committed to benevolent work and service. Her kindness extended far beyond her own household - she served with the Red Cross, provided end-of-life care for her brothers and sisters, and played an essential role in helping raise her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She spent seventeen years serving as a teller with Combustion Federal Credit Union. Wanda gave of herself quietly and consistently, embodying compassion in every stage of her life.

She was preceded in death by her husband of forty-two years, J.T. McCamy; her daughter, Sheila June Long; and her eight siblings and their spouses.

Wanda is survived by her daughter, Lisa Ruiz (Raul); her stepsons, Steve McCamy (Carolyn) and Tony McCamy (Emily); son-in-law Greg Long, her grandchildren, Jason Long (Stephanie), Melissa Harvey (Brad), Heather Greene (Nathan), Carmen Millard (Chris), Aristeo Ruiz, Asante Ruiz, Rachel Pederson, and Lexi McCamy. Wanda was blessed with a large and loving group of great-grandchildren: Levi, Callie, Caroline, Mason, Bryce, Chloe, Charlotte, and Brooklynn, each of whom brought her immense joy.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Long, Aristeo Ruiz, Asante Ruiz, Chris Millard, David Grey, and Nathan Greene.

The family will receive friends 9:30-11:30 am Friday at Lane Funeral Home, Ashland Terrace, A funeral service honoring Wanda's life will be held 11:30 am Friday in the Coulter Chapel of Lane Funeral Home with George Cupp officiating. Burial will follow in Hamilton County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, a cause dear to Wanda's heart.

Wanda June McCamy lived with quiet strength, steadfast faith, and a heart always ready to serve. Her legacy of love and compassion will continue to live on in the many lives she touched.
