Wanda Melford, born on July 8, 1940, in Hazard, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2025, in West Chester, surrounded by her loved ones who were reading to her God's promise. A remarkable matriarch, Wanda was the oldest of thirteen children, which foreshadowed her natural ability to nurture and guide those around her.
Throughout her life, she exemplified warmth, love, and a lively spirit. Wanda took great pride in her appearance and enjoyed expressing this through her thoughtful compliments, particularly about others' shoes, a small testament to her keen sense of observation and appreciation for detail. her vibrant personality extended to her love for animals, with a special fondness for dogs, and was reflected in the way she embraced life's simple pleasures, such as gardening and shopping.
Wanda’s proudest accomplishments revolved around her family. She cherished the role of mother and found immense joy when her grandchildren were born. Her legacy lives on through her devoted sons, Tony Melford and John (Stephanie) Melford, her beloved grandchildren, Jason Melford, Carie (John) Bedenbaugh, Brooke Melford, and Logan Melford, and her great-grandson, Jacob Sicking.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Syvan Melford, and her son, Michael Melford. Wanda's impact will continue to resonate through the lives she touched with her kindness and unwavering support.
A Funeral Service will be held in her honor at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, located at 6329 Tylersville Road, OH 45069 on November 6, 2025, starting at 11:00 AM, followed by burial at Vine Street Hill Cemetery, 3701 Vine Street, Cincinnati, OH 45220 at 12:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to: A Humane Society or Tunnel to Towers.
Wanda Melford will be remembered not only for her nurturing spirit but also for her ability to make those around her feel seen and valued. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will endure in the hearts of her family and friends.
