Wanda Stevenson, age 74 of Harned, KY, passed away March 9, 2025, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Fairfield, KY on January 26, 1951, daughter of the late Ronald and Eula Elizabeth Lucas Sosh. Wanda was a teacher at Ben Johnson Elementary School, where she worked for over 29 years. She loved her students and co-workers. She was more than a teacher – if needed she was a mother, grandmother, caregiver and always willing to help students and families in need. She began a Friday morning bible study group which consisted of any student who wanted to participate. Wanda and her late husband Gary were the founders of Emmanuel Fellowship Church. She has always been very involved in church activities.
Wanda loved her family beyond measure. She was the "planner, organizer and the glue" that held her family and the church together. She enjoyed singing, cooking, attending sporting events, flower gardening, bird watching, yardwork, listening to the windchimes in her yard, driving anywhere her family wanted to go and her teaching. The Christmas season was her favorite time of the year. The start to a perfect day began with a cup of coffee on her back porch.
Wanda had a beautiful smile that would make your heart feel full and was a good friend to many. She has left quite an impact on those who knew her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Bro. Gary Stevenson and her brothers John, Jerry and Terry Sosh.
Wanda is survived by 3 children: Cindy Carman (Steve) of Hudson, KY; Bryant Stevenson (Jaime) of Hudson, KY and Bradley Stevenson (Whitney) of Lexington, KY
7 grandchildren: Kyle Carman (Whitney), Austin Carman (Katey), Bryce Stevenson, Abbigail Stevenson, Braxton Stevenson, Brady Stevenson and Gracie Stevenson
7 great grandchildren: Jackson, Caroline, Silas, Hazel, Shelby, Evie and Luly Carman
3 brothers: Ronnie Sosh (Donna) of Hudson, KY; Hoppy Sosh (Barbara) of Hudson, KY and Perry Sosh (Bobbie) of Hudson, KY
3 sisters-in-law: Barbara Sosh, Pat Sosh and Kathy Sosh
Many nieces, nephews and their families.
Funeral services will be held at Emmanuel Fellowship Church on Friday, March 14, 2025, at 4 PM with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday, 2-8 PM and Friday, 10 AM – 4 PM.
Expressions of sympathy are suggested to Emmanuel Fellowship Church.
