A graveside service for Ruth (Whitt) Thomas, 93, of Grandview, will be held in Blum Cemetery, Blum, on Saturday February 7, 2026, with Mr. David Thomas officiating. Jonathan Duncan, Jeremy Duncan, Joss Duncan, Lucas Thomas, Bill Thomas, John Thomas and Seth Thomas will serve as pallbearers.
Ruth passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2026 in Cleburne. She was born on July 25, 1932 in Cleburne. She married Lawrence Eldon Thomas on December 23, 1954. Ruth was known for her warm heart and nurturing spirit. She dedicated her life to cooking delightful meals for her family, gathering them around the table with love and warmth. Her culinary skills, combined with her innate talent for couponing, ensured that every meal was not only delicious but also made with care and thoughtfulness. It was in these moments that her family truly felt the depth of her love.
Though she had a known aversion to driving, Ruth's dedication to her loved ones never wavered. She managed to navigate life with grace, always prioritizing her family’s needs above her own, embodying the role of a loving and devoted mother, wife, and grandmother.
In addition to her culinary pursuits, Ruth found joy in the harmonies of Country & Western Gospel music. The sounds of this genre filled her home, reflecting her deep appreciation for the comfort and strength that music could provide.
Ruth is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Eldon Thomas; parents, William “Cunie” and Mae (Rogers) Whitt; brother, Jim Whitt and sister, Mary Beth Worley.
She is survived by her sister, Eilleen Worley and husband, George; sister-in-law, Judy Whitt; children, David Thomas and wife, Mary, Jan Duncan, and Keith Thomas and wife, Leslie; grandchildren, Jessica Thomas, Sydni Massey and husband, Grant, Jonathan Duncan and wife Abigail, Jeremy Duncan, Lucas Thomas and wife, Summer, Julianne Mitchell and husband Dalton, Bill Thomas and wife, Josie, Joss Duncan, Peggy Jean Coyer and husband, Braydon, Moriah Thomas, John Thomas and Seth Thomas; eleven great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
Ruth Thomas leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and a spirit of compassion that will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her presence will be deeply missed, but the memories she created will endure in the hearts of her family and friends.
