Warren William Allen, 87, of Crawfordsville, IN, went home to be with his Savior Sunday, June 30, 2024, at Crawfordsville Hospital, with several family members by his side. Warren was born in Crawfordsville December 12, 1936, and born again at age ten, accepting Jesus Christ as his Savior at Calvary Baptist Church Crawfordsville, located at Walnut and Chestnut Streets.

Warren was preceded in death by his parents, Dafford (DW) Allen and Ethyl (Rhoades) Payne, brother, Robert Allen, and grandson, Jordan Huhta.

Warren is survived by his wife of 68 years, Patricia Joan (Canine) of Crawfordsville, and sister, Janet Metzger of MO. He was the son-in-law of Rev. David and Margaret (Priebe) Canine of Crawfordsville, both present with the Lord. Rev. Canine pastored East Side Baptist Church, where Pat and Warren are current members. They were married by Rev. Canine June 16,1956, and Warren often shared how these dear folks loved and accepted him as a son.

The Allens had five children: Mike (Jeanne) Allen, Cherry Allen, Cindy (Steve) Eckles, Cathy (Jim) Huhta and Candy (Jim) Boyer. Their extended family includes eight grandchildren: Jennifer Simpson, Stephanie (Andy) Tarter, Megan (Jeremy) Lemon, Monica (Mason) Call, Jared (Emma) Huhta, Jordan Huhta, David Boyer, Jaclyn Boyer; two great-grandchildren: Madison Tarter, Grace Lemon, with one more due shortly.

Warren was paperboy for the Journal Review. A 1955 graduate of Crawfordsville High, National Honor Society Member, and trombone player. A graduate of Moody Bible Institute (Chicago) and Cedarville University (OH). Moody student jobs included Federal Reserve Bank, and Moody Publishing, assisting Ken Taylor on The Living Bible.

Warren was ordained as a Baptist minister in the GARBC at Newtonsville Baptist Church (OH) after being asked to organize a new church. God worked mightily through a dynamic building program. He also pastored churches in Arcanum and Philipsburg OH, Calumet City IL, Hammond and Munster, IN. Retiring from full-time ministry at age 70, Warren pastored briefly at Wallace Christian Church, IN. During Warren's service to the Lord, bus ministries were started, outdoor car services held, global missionaries supported, lifelong friendships made, and the salvation message was shared thousands of times through sermons, VBS programs and Christmas programs.

In 1977 the Allen family moved to Munster IN and Warren become Assistant Director of Admissions at Moody. While there he taught future pastors in Evening School and was pulpit-supply pastor for regional churches. In 1986 Warren founded Faith Baptist Church Munster IN, acquiring and renovating a vacant church building. There three daughters were married and several grandchildren baptized by Warren. Eventually Pat and Warren returned to Crawfordsville, recently residing at Wellbrooke.

Visitation will be held at East Side Baptist Church, 2000 Traction Road, Crawfordsville on Monday July 8 at 11:00 until the service begins at 1:00. Burial service to follow at Freedom Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be given to the Missions Program at East Side Baptist Church.
