Warren Walter Evans, 83, son of Floyd and Emma Mae (Kleen) Evans, of Estherville, Iowa, passed away on September 1, 2025, surrounded by family.
Born on March 21, 1942, Warren grew up on the Evans century farm in Dolliver, Iowa. At 18, he proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving from 1961 until his honorable discharge in 1964. On August 6, 1966, he married the love of his life, Patricia Meehan. Together, they made their home in Estherville, where they raised their children, Helen, Cheryl, Lee, and Paul, and where Warren lived the rest of his life.
Warren's greatest joy was his family. He loved cheering on his children and grandchildren at their sporting events and being present in their lives. He also enjoyed gardening and canning, making homemade Christmas candy, cooking, and playing cribbage. His daily coffee gatherings with longtime friends were a favorite ritual. A lifelong Dodgers fan, Warren rarely missed a game. When it came to college sports, he was a proud Iowa Hawkeyes supporter, always ready to catch a football or basketball game and share in the highs and lows of the season. Warren lived life with dedication, humor, and heart.
Warren built a long and dedicated career in Estherville. He worked for John Morrell's for 21 years before owning and operating Evans Recreation for 20 years. Later, he retired from Rosewood Manor after 4 years as a maintenance man, though he continued working part time at Ruthven Meat Locker. Alongside his work, Warren gave generously of his time to his community. He coached Little League, was a member of the Elks Club, served as a trustee at the United Methodist Church, and dedicated 38 years as Commissioner of Veteran Affairs in Emmet County, serving local veterans with honor and compassion.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Pat; his children: Helen Trembly (Junior), Cheryl DeVore (Greg), Lee Evans (Kieja), and Paul Evans (Gina); grandchildren: Jake Trembly, Max Trembly (fiancée Mae), Emma Trembly, Justin Doyle (Taylor), Jordan McCuddin (Brandon), Grant DeVore, Kendall Halbur (Cris), Brenna Evans, Blake Evans, Kayla Evans, Alex Evans and Kendra Evans; great-grandchildren: Jameson Doyle, Chloe McCuddin, and Teagan McCuddin; and his sisters FayeAnn Egerstrom of Sherman Oaks, CA, and Donna Mayne of Lemars, IA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Emma Mae Evans; siblings Emma Jean Manson, Robert Evans, Dale Evans, and Larry Evans; and in-laws Edward and Hannah Meehan.
Warren will be remembered for his love of family, his service to others, and the many lives he touched throughout his years.
