Warren W. McNally, 89, of Marshall died on Sunday, November 7, 2010, at Marshall Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Mr. McNally was born on April 15, 1921, in Jackson, to Edward and Hazel (Wilbur) McNally. He graduated from Passaic High School. On July 14, 1951, he married Leona M. Joppie in Spring Arbor. She survives. After his high school graduation, he worked in the ship yards in Passaic until being drafted in the U.S. Army during World War II. After Mr. McNally was discharged he moved to Albion and worked on the family dairy farm. Later he moved to Florida, and he started Big Chief Eating Post in Miami for a short time. He would move back to Michigan and worked at Marshall Lumber, and then VFW home in Eaton Rapids, and later worked for the K-Mart Corporation and managed the home improvement department at the Kalamazoo store, and then move to Albion and worked the K-mart Store until his retirement in 1982. Mr. McNally had always farmed with his family and bought his own farm in 1964 where he and his wife still live. Mr. McNally was a Life member of the Claude E. Hale VFW post 4073. He enjoyed his horses and being a 4-H leader for the Tumbleweed Riders. He was an avid hunter and especially enjoyed spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife Leona of Marshall, three daughters Sharon (Doug) Mathewson of Marshall, Sandra (Roy) Baker of Cape Coral, Florida, Sueann (Kevin) Besaw of Lake Mary, Florida, a son Robert McNally of Crystal, Michigan. He is also survived by five grandchildren Christina Lindsey, Ilo Mathewson, Oren Mathewson, Cameron Besaw, Caitlin McNally Stout, three great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Kyle, Megan Lindsey, and a sister Marguerite Garrison of Jackson. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Donald Gillispie. Visitation will take place at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 9, 2010, from 1-7pm with family present to greet friends from 1-3pm and 5-7pm. Funeral services celebrating his life will take place at 10:30am on Wednesday at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home with Reverend James Codde officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Calhoun County Horse Breeders Association. Assistance with memorials is available at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home and Cremation Services
