Warren Daniel Neely, 72, of Wynnewood, PA, died on May 21, 2025. He will be honored with a Firefighters' Funeral, having devoted more than five decades of his life to the volunteer fire service with Penn Wynne Fire Company, Ocean View Volunteer Fire Company, Union Fire Association and Narberth Fire Department. Warren is also a life member of the Volunteer Medical Services Corp of Lower Merion and Narberth (Narberth Ambulance).
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Veronica Claffey Neely; daughter Christine and son William (Marisa); sister Nancy Fielden of Paoli; many nieces and nephews. Warren was predeceased by his daughters Rebecca Ann and Ann Marie. His parents Richard and Hannah Neely and four brothers, Richard Jr., William, John, Robert, and sister H. Helen Cirrito.
A viewing will be conducted at Chadwick & McKinney Funeral Home, 30 E. Athens Avenue, Ardmore on Thursday May 29, 2025 from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Friday May 30, 2025 from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by a graveside service. His casket will ride atop a Penn Wynne fire truck and pass under the crossed aerial ladders from Narberth Fire Department and Merion Fire Company of Ardmore as he makes his way to his burial at the West Laurel Hill Cemetery in Bala Cynwyd. He will be laid to rest in the Neely family plot where he will join his daughters, Becky and Ann.
A lifelong resident of Lower Merion Township, he was born on July 17, 1952, at Roxborough Memorial Hospital, the youngest of seven children. He graduated from Lower Merion High School. Warren worked for Lower Merion Township for more than 40 years, before retiring in 2018.
Volunteerism in the fire service and ambulance corps has been a family tradition for the Neelys. Six of his brothers and sisters have volunteered with the Narberth Ambulance or a fire company within Lower Merion Township. Rising through the ranks from a 16-year-old volunteer to attaining the honor of being Chief of Penn Wynne Overbrook Hills Fire Company. His most recent rank within Penn Wynne was Chief Emeritus. Warren spent many days and nights putting the fire service and helping others first. Warren was also on the board of directors for Penn Wynne Overbrook Hills Fire Company. When not in Lower Merion Warren spent his time in Ocean View New Jersey. In 2013 Warren joined as a volunteer to help the community he vacationed and retired in.
His true calling though was as a firefighter, serving for more than five decades in the Lower Merion Township Fire Service, just as his older brothers Dick, Bill, John and Bob had done.
Following in their fathers footsteps Chrissy and Will are also in the fire service. Chrissy is a member of both Penn Wynne Overbrook Hills Fire Company and Ocean View Volunteer Fire Company. Will is currently the Chief at Ocean View Volunteer Fire Company and works part time at Merion Fire Company of Ardmore.
