Warren Lee Shane, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and dedicated civil servant, passed away on March 8, 2026, at Ascension Via Christ Hospital in Manhattan, Kansas. Born on April 18, 1942, in Junction City, Kansas, Warren lived a life marked by service, craftsmanship, and a deep commitment to his family.

After graduating from Junction City High School with the class of 1960, Warren served three years in the United States Air Force as a missile specialist, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to his country. After serving, Warren began a distinguished career as a telephone office repairman at Fort Riley, where he dedicated many years until his retirement in 1995.

Warren was a master carpenter, taking pride in building not only his own home but also crafting cherished items for his family, such as toy boxes, doll houses, and barns. His passion for gardening was evident as he cultivated various plants and tenderly cared for his succulent collection, reflecting his nurturing nature. One of his largest civic accomplishments was helping build the First Christian Church in Junction City, Kansas.

An avid square and round dancer, Warren was an active member of ROUNDALAB, the international association of round dance leaders, teachers, and choreographers, where he held the role of chairman of the board at one time. He was also a devoted member of the First Christian Church in Junction City, further demonstrating his dedication to community and faith.

Warren was actively involved in the Shane Family Reunion for the majority of its 75 year existence. He served as the president for many years. Most recently he was the family historian. He delved deeply into genealogy research, updating the family tree on a regular basis. He was looking forward to the 75th annual reunion in August. He reached out to relatives far and near making connections with long lost cousins, some of which traveled from far away to attend the reunion after he connected with them.

Warren leaves behind his loving wife, Jeanne M. Shane, residing in Junction City, Kansas. Other survivors include his children: Brian Shane (Jacque) of Alta Vista, Kansas; Kevin Shane of Junction City, Kansas; Shari Augustine (Mike) of Edwardsville, Kansas; and Melanie Fields (Tony) of Junction City, Kansas.
