Graveside services for Waudine Moorehead will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Cedarlawn Cemetery with Bro. Mack Alford officiating. Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until departure to graveside. McClain-Hays is in charge of arrangements.

Ruthie Waudine Wilcher Moorehead, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on April 28, 2025, in Philadelphia, Mississippi, at the age of 97.

Waudine was born on April 21, 1928, in Leake County, Mississippi, to Harvey C. and Lula Jolly Wilcher. She was the oldest of 13 children. On November 26, 1947, she married Marzine Moorehead and they had 3 children, Lamar, Sandra and Alan. Waudine was an accomplished artist whose paintings could be seen hanging in local businesses for many years. She was also very well known for her cake and pie baking and cake decorating skills. She enjoyed cooking for her family, sewing, reading, fishing and going to garage sales.

Mrs. Moorehead worked at US Motors for many years and she also was an Assistant Teacher at Philadelphia Elementary School after she retired. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.

Mrs. Moorehead is preceded in death by her parents, Harvey C. and Lula Jolly Wilcher, her beloved husband, Marzine Moorehead, and her sons, Lamar Moorehead and Alan Moorehead.

She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Winstead; her granddaughter, Dana Waddell; her grandsons, Chris Moorehead, Garrett Moorehead (Mallory) and Gray Moorehead (Sarah Sims);her great-grandchildren, Whitney Berry (Russell), Jacob Waddell, Sebastian Moorehead, Sofia Moorehead, William Moorehead, Weston Moorehead and Walt Moorehead; her great-great-granddaughter, Riley Belle Berry; her brother, Paul Wilcher (Rhonda); and her daughters-in-law, Debbie Moorehead and Gina Moorehead.

Pallbearers will be Jacob Waddell, Chris Moorehead, Garrett Moorehead, Gray Moorehead, William Moorehead and Russell Berry.

Honorary pallbearers will be Weston Moorehead and Walt Moorehead.
