It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Wavey Louise Jones, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, who left this world peacefully on November 23, 2025, at the age of 95. Born in Chataignier, Louisiana, on October 28, 1930, Wavey lived a life full of love, dedication, and resilience. A resident of Ville Platte, she was known for her warm spirit and nurturing presence, cherished by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Wavey was a talented beautician and proudly operated Wavey’s Beauty Shop for over 30 years. Her artistry and keen eye for beauty brought joy to many in the community. In addition to her passion for beautification, she dedicated herself to her family, finding great joy in gardening, puzzles, and creating a loving home environment.
Wavey is survived by her devoted daughter, Rebecca Dupre of Ville Platte; her sons, Andrew Darbonne of Lafayette and Paul Darbonne of Kennesaw, Georgia; and her daughter, Delores Miller of Mermentau, one sister Leona Ortego. She was a loving grandmother to an extensive lineage of grandchildren—Kimberley Manuel, Candice Bruney, Marcus Perrdoin, Kelly Tate, Robin Strong, Jason Miller, Jared Miller, Meagan Stelle, Casey Hubbard, and Lauren, Jacob, and Kristen Darbonne—and a proud great-grandmother to 17 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Wavey is preceded in death by her husband, Steve Jones, Jr.; her cherished son, Davis Darbonne; and her parents, Abrar and Marante Miller. Brothers Lawrence Miller, Frank Miller, and Abrab Miller, Jr. Sisters Eva Miller, Nola Farroux, Nora Miller. and Rita Miller.
Wavey's life will be celebrated during a Mass at Our Lady Queen of All Saints on November 25, 2025, at 12:00 PM, where family and friends will gather to honor her memory. The Rosary service will begin at 11:30 AM, with Father Randy Morrow officiating. Following the service, she will be laid to rest in the Gates of Heaven Cemetery, a fitting resting place for a woman whose spirit radiated love and kindness throughout her life. Her legacy of love, strength, and beauty will forever remain in our hearts.
