Wayne was born on October 4, 1935, to Alfred and Anna Anderson of
Arcadia, Iowa. He spent his younger years on the farm located north of Arcadia and attended Arcadia schools.
On January 18, 1964, Wayne was united in marriage to Betty Odendahl at St. Lawrence Church in Carroll. The couple made their home on a farm north of Vail. Wayne was a devoted worker from driving a milk truck in his earlier years with his nephew Don Gerken, to later driving for Roger Sporleder and Liechti brothers.
In 1967, Wayne and Betty purchased their first family farm near Vail. Wayne farmed from 1967 until his retirement in 2000. Wayne retired from farming, and they moved to Carroll. Wayne worked a variety of different jobs after retirement including Van Meter, Jeff Sanders, Greteman Agency and Walmart. He had a contagious smile at Walmart regardless of the department he was working in. Wayne was a strong supporter of Kuemper Catholic Schools and also had a deep devotion to his faith as a former member of St. Ann's Church in Vail and currently a member of St. John Paul II Parish.
Wayne was a member of the Army Reserves from 1957-1962. This past October, Wayne was awarded the Legion Riders Flag. He marched for many military events including Memorial Day, football games and Legionnaire's funerals.
