C. Wayne Brittingham, age 88, of Delaware City, DE, passed away on Monday, October 13, 2025.

Born in Wilmington, DE on April 19, 1937, he was the son of the late Henry Clayton and Ida Maxine (Sanders) Brittingham. Wayne was a graduate of Wilmington High School, where he met his future wife, Vivien. He worked as a research technician at Hercules, Inc. for 44 years until his retirement.

Through his lifetime, Wayne spent countless hours hunting, fishing, crabbing, and boating with his family and friends. He loved working in his garden and collecting his harvest. He enjoyed trapshooting and was a proud life member of the NRA. Wayne was a 65-year member of Ionic Masonic Lodge of Delaware and a longtime member of the local Delaware City Recreational Club. For over 20 years, Wayne and Vivien especially enjoyed their winters at their Florida home, loving the warm weather, meeting new friends, and spending time fishing and boating.

Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Vivien Pettinaro Brittingham; children, B. Barry Brittingham (Linda), Valerie Reed (John), and R. Alan Brittingham (Theresa), all of Middletown; grandchildren, Brian, Allison, Daniel, Robert, Alicia, and Andrew; and 6 great-grandchildren. Wayne loved spending time with all of them and will be dearly missed.
