Wayne Harold Chubb

Dr. Wayne Harold Chubb, age 91, lifelong resident of Howell, passed away Friday, March 8, 2024. He was born March 30, 1932 in Howell, the son of Harold and Aletta Chubb. He married Marie (Horwood) Chubb on March 5, 1955 and she preceded him in death December 25, 2023, after 68 years of marriage. He is survived by his daughter Jo Ann (Brian) St. Pierre, grandsons Michael (Samantha) and Steven St. Pierre. Great grandfather of Lucas, Lyla, Gemma, and Harper. Also survived by his brother-in-law's Ralph and Clare Horwood, niece Monica (John) Reid and nephews Jim (Mary) and Ronald (Shelly) Boardway. He was preceded in death by his sister Barbara Boardway and niece Kathleen Fowler. Wayne was a 1950 graduate of Howell High School, received his Bachelor's degree in 1957, Master's Degree in 1959, and his Psychology PhD in 1968 from Michigan State University. Wayne served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1956 and was employed as a Guidance Counselor for over 30 years at Wayne State University where he endured driving into the sun daily, to and from Detroit. Wayne loved being a grandfather and shared his automotive maintenance talents with his grandsons. His many hobbies included kayaking, garage sales, looking up information on his tablets, singing in the First United Methodist Choir, driving people to appointments and generally helping others whenever possible. His collections included musical keyboards, which he played daily, old hymnals, toy trains, and cap gun pistols. A graveside memorial service will be held Friday, March 15, at 11:00 AM, at Lakeview Cemetery in Howell, followed by a Memorial luncheon at 12:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church of Howell.
