Jerry Johnson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes – MacDonald Chapel - Howell on Jan. 20, 2026.
Jerry Dale Johnson, Jr., age 66, of Howell, passed away December 17, 2025, at his home. He was born January 30, 1959, in Kalamazoo, MI, to his parents, Jerry D. Sr. and Sandra (Sayler) Johnson. He is survived by his wife, Kimm, children, Jason (Leslie) Johnson and Mallory (Joshua) Laginess. He constantly boasted about his grandchildren, Elizabeth, Caleb, Madeline, and Christian. He has two brothers, Ken & Scott Johnson, and a step-sister, Debbie Lucas.
Jerry served in the Navy from 1988 to 1993. After leaving the service, he secured a job at a small lighting company in Hamburg, MI, called CAE, and completed 22 years before retiring in 2012. In his spare time, he coached his son Jason's grade school basketball team from 3rd grade to 7th grade. He also coached his daughter, Mallory's girls' travel basketball league for two years. He was also the girls' JV basketball coach at Howell High School for three years. In his senior year at Howell HS, he played against "Magic Johnson" for the regional state playoffs in March 1977. So I guess you could say basketball was in his blood.
He was an avid bowler, golfer, and men's rec league basketball & volleyball team player. Jerry loved the Lions and Notre Dame football. He will be missed by many.
No memorial service will be held at this time. Condolences may be shared at www.watkinsfuneralhomes.com
