Hartquist Funeral & Cremation Services - Pipestone ChapelWayne Francis DeSplinter was born on October 22, 1941, to LeRoy and Adeline (Rostyne) DeSplinter in Pipestone, Minnesota. While growing up, Wayne attended and graduated from Jasper High School. Following his graduation, he began working at the Jasper Farmers Elevator. He worked diligently at the elevator until his retirement. Wayne met and fell in love with Delores Schultz - the couple were united in marriage on January 20, 1962, at the St. Rose Lima Catholic Church in Garretson, South Dakota. This marriage was blessed with their children, Cynthia, Mark, Randy and Craig.
Wayne was an avid hunter and fisherman; he could always be found outside patiently enjoying his favorite activities. During his retirement years, Wayne took great joy in tending to his hobby farm for 20 years. He also enjoyed going into town for a cup of coffee with his friends and the occasional scratch off lottery ticket. Above all, Wayne loved to spend time with his family. Wayne passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at the Pipestone County Hospice House in Pipestone at the age of 84 years and 21 days.
Wayne is lovingly remembered by his wife, Delores of Jasper, Minnesota; children, Cynthia (Larry) Soma, Mark (Lenora) DeSplinter, Randy (Diane) DeSplinter and Craig DeSplinter; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Mary Lou Schik, Barb Collins, James (special friend, Kathy Ekstrum) DeSplinter, David (Lee) DeSplinter, Sharon Ash and Michael (Janine) DeSplinter. He was preceded in death by his parents, LeRoy and Adeline DeSplinter; daughter-in-law, Tammy DeSplinter; sister, Carol Roddey; and brothers, Rich DeSplinter and Robert DeSplinter.
