Wayne Ferguson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McWilliams Funeral Home - Alpena on Sep. 17, 2024.
Wayne Eugene Ferguson, a man whose hands could skillfully mend the broken and whose heart was ever open to the joys of family and friendship, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2024, In Alpena. Born on August 18, 1953, in Brown City, Michigan, to the late Alec and Lucille (Bartle) Ferguson, Wayne's life was a testament to the values of hard work, creativity, and love.
Wayne's journey through life was shared with his beloved wife, Rita, for 53 years until her passing. Together, they raised a family that became Wayne's pride and joy. He was a devoted father to Kenneth, Daniel (Amy), Mark (Kennellie), Heather (Jason) Golbeck, Charlene (Derek) Knapp, and Scott (Jennifer). His legacy continues to flourish through his twelve grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, who will remember their grandfather's kind heart and boundless imagination.
Wayne was the cherished brother to Judith, Lorraine, Wilma, and Pat, and to his brothers, Alex and Don. He was a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews, who will miss his warmth and guidance. Wayne also opened his heart and home to numerous "adoptive children," who found in him a guiding light and a safe haven. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rita, and siblings Elizabeth, Erwin, Lyle, and Ron, who welcomed him into the next life with open arms.
A man of many talents, Wayne was a licensed diesel mechanic, who also did plumbing, and mason work. His hands were rarely still, as he found joy in decorating, building, and carpentry, especially when it involved repurposing old things into treasures. Wayne's home was a canvas for his creativity, and his dinosaur garden, filled with toy dinosaurs he collected over the years, was a source of delight for both young and old.
Wayne's storytelling was as fantastic as the tales he spun, captivating the imaginations of all who listened. He was an excellent complement to his wife, Rita, and together they created a world of wonder and beauty for their family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him "PERIOD".
In accordance with his wishes, Wayne has been taken for cremation with no services planned at this time. McWilliams Funeral Home has assisted the family.
