Wayne Elmer Furman, Sr., was born in Camden, New Jersey on January 1, 1954. Wayne was born the eighth child out of nine to the late Ervin Sr. and Elizabeth Furman. He is survived by his three siblings, Edna Williams, Ronald and Lester Furman, and sadly was preceded in death by his sisters, Ruthann, Sandy and Linda (Lindy) and his brothers Ervin, Jr. (Butchie) and Douglas (Dougie).
Wayne was educated in the Berlin School District and attended Edgewood High School. After high school he worked at the Ranier Heating Company from 1976-1982 as a Machinist. During that time Wayne began working for the Voorhees Township Police Department in 1979 under the leadership of Chief White, and later Chief Louis J. Bordi, upon his retirement in 2007.
The Furman household was built on a strong foundation of love, unity, and family. As a young man he was taught to work hard, be a good person and provide for his family and he exceeded all those expectations. Wayne enjoyed spending time with his family, having cookouts, playing cards, spades specifically, and you couldn't beat him at any card game, horseshoes, fishing, laughing, racing cars and riding his motorcycles - he enjoyed all of it. His family and his friends were food to his soul.
Whenever someone had a problem that needed to be solved, whether it was a personal issue or just wanting to know how to do their own oil change, he was always there to help. Wayne knew just how to fix it. His advice sometimes would be hilarious and have you laughing so hard that you cried, but then there would be times when his suggestions were very heartfelt and warming. Anyone you spoke with can attest that Wayne was such a wonderful individual who you could have a great conversation with and always walk away from it learning something new. He was truly an amazing man to all who knew and loved him.
In the year of 2001, Wayne rededicated his life to Christ and was baptized on March 23, 2001. He loved the Lord and began to understand the calling on his life. In 2005, he met the love of his life, Rhonda. They shared 17 wonderful years together and in 2022 they were married.
Here today to celebrate his lifetime of memories are his wife Rhonda Furman; his children, Wayne E Furman II, Shaina M Duhart and son-in-law Paul, Marcelus Murray, Darrah Murray, Craig Cain, Kerron Cain, Najlah Williams; twelve grandchildren, Jhaina, Jose, Richard, Destiny, Darrah, Victoria, Makayla, Cyrus and Nyasia, two great-grandchildren Marianna and Azure; two brothers, Ronald and Lester Furman; sister, Edna Williams; and a host of family and friends.
