Wayne David Gale went to be with the Lord on January 18, 2026 at the age of 69.
Wayne was a man of great faith, a loving husband, wonderful father, and proud Grandpa/Papa.
Wayne was born February 14, 1956 in Saint Helena, California to Lucille Joy (Haugen) Pease and James Lester Oakes; adopted and raised by Virginius 'Slim' Dermot and Hazel Delores Gale. He grew up in Long Beach, California.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Jeanne Gale of 16 years. He leaves an imprint and legacy behind with his children, Christina (Kyle) Welstad, David (Tiffany) Gale, Michelle (Sam) Bornfleth, and Mari Grogan; and 8 grandchildren: Mylisa, Jasper, Addison, Michael, Lizzy, Lyla, Abigail, and Ian. He was an anchor and steadfast spirit for his wife, kids, and grandchildren.
Wayne led a distinguished career in community banking for more than 45 years, most recently serving as President & CEO of First Bank Yuma, leading the bank to receive many awards and accomplishments.
He moved to Yuma in 2007 during the financial crisis, bringing stability to the banking industry and quickly becoming rooted in the community. He was actively involved, serving on numerous local boards and service organizations, and at one point lending his leadership to as many as seven community boards. In 2024 he received the "Trail to Leadership Award" from the Scouting Arizona, Grand Canyon Council. He exemplified true leadership through his integrity, his commitment to doing right by others, and his compassionate heart.
Wayne was a strong mentor and friend who showed up for others when it mattered most and in times of need. He listened with intention, offered steady encouragement, and brightened every room with a playful-spirit, humor, and a sense of fun. Wayne loved reading, Hawaiian shirts, ice cream, homemade popcorn, and Diet Coke. He laughed often, brought joy to those around him and humbly served God in all he did. He loved his family well, loved spoiling his grandchildren, and wanted the best for future generations. He leaves a legacy of faith, integrity, and extraordinary generosity in service to others.

It is still so unreal to me by the loss of a great leader, role model, and friend. I send my sincere condolences to his wife and family. Especially his grandbabies, everyone knows how much he loved them. I can truly say Wayne was such an amazing, easy going, down to earth boss. Wayne will forever be remembered and missed.
